UPFA United

What is it?

UPFA United teams are teams formed with best soccer players in the U.P. and provide an opportunity to be competitive at higher-level tournaments and college showcases.  UPFA United teams are select teams that combine players  from all UPFA affiliated teams including players from Marquette, Escanaba, Houghton and Iron Mountain.

Norman Power, Marquette Soccer Academy Director and a USSF A license coach, oversees the UPFA United program.

History

Our inaugural season for a U12 Boys team of the UPFA United highlighted the impact such combined teams can have. Achieving 1st place at the Appleton Oktoberfest tournament as well as reaching the final in the Summer Shootout tournament were impressive feats for the newly formed team. Reaching the quarter finals of the state cup was another noteworthy achievement for the group.

The U16 Boys have had success in the Dome tournament in addition to the phenomenal achievement of reaching the USA Cup final in the top bracket of the largest youth soccer tournament in the western hemisphere, with teams representing 17 states and 17 countries. This team again reached the final the following year before being defeated by a team from Haiti in a hard fought battle. Before this, they won the Petoskey Invitational tournament.

The U14 United team also won the Appleton Summer Shootout.
